I get most of my recipes for cook books from the period that are located on Google Books or in the hard copies that I own. Many of the cook books are available for free download, and I save them on my desktop for easy reference. I could never list all of them, so here are the ones I use most.
Here are some of my favorites:
- The Practical Cook Book, 1850
- The Virginia Housewife, 1838
- The American Home Cooke Book, 1864
- The Practical Housekeeper, 1855
- Housekeeping in Old Virginia, 1879
- The Confederate Receipt Book, 1863
- Mrs. Leslie's Complete Cookery, 1851
- Mrs. Beeton's Dictionary of Everyday Cookery, 1865
- The Book of Household Management, 1861
- The Carolina Housewife, 1847
Modern Books of period recipes:
Websites full of resources:
Place to get things:

- Dobyns & Martin, Grocers- Hard to find spices, teas, etc. Again, lots of 18th C stuff here
